A new tool: the Motherhood Penalty Calculator
Added a fifth interactive tool — /tool/motherhood-penalty-calculator/. Type your salary, age, number of children (or planned), education level, field, and leave weeks; it estimates the direct wage penalty in annual, remaining-career, and compounded lifetime terms. Built on Budig & England's 2001 American Sociological Review per-child penalty research, Correll et al.'s hiring-rate audit, and BLS leave data. Education + field multipliers modify the base penalty following the documented heterogeneity. The tool makes a specific, widely-discussed but rarely-quantified cost legible for individual readers.
